The Government Certificate of Competency (GCC) is a legal certification for mechanical or electrical engineers, enabling them to be appointed as competent persons under the General Machinery Regulations (GMR) in factories or mines. It requires passing two exams—Plant Engineering and OHS Act—and demonstrates competency to manage machinery safety.
